Man in hospital following stabbing in Dymchurch

A man has been arrested and another is in hospital following a stabbing overnight.

Police officers and special forensic teams are in Dymchurch on Romney Marsh today carrying out searches following the attack at 12.55am.

Police were called to the High Street near the junction with Orgarswick Avenue by ambulance crews after a man sitting in a car was seen with serious injuries consistent with stab wounds.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was taken to a London hospital and remains in a stable condition.

Following enquiries, officers arrested a 29-year-old man from Dymchurch in connection with assault and he was taken into custody.

The two men are understood to be known to each other.

This morning, the car park in Orgarswick Avenue was taped off and forensic vehicles were parked nearby.

A house opposite the car park was also attended by officers, and searches are being carried out in the surrounding areas.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone who saw or heard the incident to get in contact.
