Person taken to hospital after crash between bus and pedestrian in New Romney High Street

A person was taken to hospital after a collision between a bus and a pedestrian.

The A259 New Romney High Street was partially blocked after the crash near Tritton Lane at about 4pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services were joined by air ambulance crews and a patient was taken by road to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

On X, Stagecoach posted: “Owing to an incident on route, the 4.21pm 102 service from Lydd towards Folkestone has been cancelled.

“We apologise for any inconvenience.”

An ambulance spokesperson said: “We were called at approximately 4.05pm to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus on the High Street in New Romney.

“Crews assessed and treated one patient at the scene before being joined by The Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

“The patient was then taken by road to William Harvey Hospital for further medical treatment.”

As of about 5.30pm, traffic was understood to have returned to normal.

A spokesman for Stagecoach said: "Our first thoughts are for the pedestrian involved who we understand is receiving treatment in hospital.

“Road safety is our highest priority and we are helping the Police with their investigation into what happened."
