Bus stop on A259 in St Mary’s Bay destroyed in two-car crash which left driver injured

A bus stop has been destroyed in a two-car crash which left a driver injured.

Police were called to the A259 in St Mary’s Bay early this morning following the incident near the junction with Jefferstone Lane.

The structure was severely damaged in the collision at about 7.30am.

Parts of the structure have been crushed while glass shattered across the road and pavement.

The driver of one of the vehicles sustained minor injuries in the incident, a police spokesperson said.

The scene was cordoned off by officers who assisted with traffic management and the recovery of the vehicles involved.

Highway officials have been informed about the damage to the bus stop.

A police spokesperson added that there were pedestrians nearby at the time of the incident, however no injuries were reported.
