Driver crashes into wall and Cinque Ports pub in New Romney

A driver is believed to have walked away with no injuries after their car crashed through a car park wall and landed in a pub.

It's thought the car careered through the car park wall in New Romney before crossing the High Street and ending up damaging the Cinque Ports pub and the building next door.

But it was a double blow for bosses of the pub: it was the second crash since the new owners took over on January 6.

Then - on the day the owners completed the purchase - the front of the pub was badly damaged and a window knocked out.

This time the next door building was more badly damaged.

Co-owner Sarah Gibbons said the team had just spent £100,000 restoring the 700-year-old pub.

A police spokesman said they were called to the site at 3.17pm this afternoon, together with other emergency services.

They said the car was "in a collision with a building".
