A Renault Clio and Mercedes collided, with both suffering heavy front-end damage.

One driver was cut free by fire crews but police say they are now searching for the other motorist involved.

The road, which is the main route between New Romney and Dymchurch, was closed in both directions but reopened at about 10pm.

A police spokesperson said: “Inquiries are underway to locate the driver of the other vehicle who was not at the scene when officers arrived.

“One person was treated by ambulance crews at the scene.”
