Go-ahead granted for wind farm

PERMISSION has been granted to build a wind farm on Romney Marsh, it has been revealed.

The controversial 26-turbine development at Little Cheyne Court, near Brookland, has been approved despite strong opposition from local councils and landowners.

A three-month public inquiry held in Lydd concluded in January this year.

Energy minister Malcolm Wicks said: "The Little Cheyne Court wind farm is the latest development in the UK’s growing wind sector and I am pleased to announce consent based on a thorough public inquiry."

Once built the turbines will generate enough electricity to power 32,000 homes.
