Woman taken to hospital after crash in Coast Drive, Greatstone

A road was closed in both directions due to a serious accident.

A woman has been taken to hospital by the air ambulance following the incident which happened on Coast Drive, Greatstone.

Traffic was queuing in the area between Hardy Road and the Parade.

Kent Surrey and Sussex air ambulance confirmed its attendance.

Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance press officer James Godfrey said: "At 10:39am our HEMS crew was dispatched from our Redhill base to attend to a female pedestrian who had been involved in a collision with a car.

"After administering treatment at the scene of the incident, the patient was airlifted to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford."

Spokesman for the ambulance service, Rich Airey, said: "We were called just after 10:30am to reports of a pedestrian hit by a car.

"Ambulance crews went to the scene and we were joined by the Air Ambulance.

"She suffered injuries to the head and was airlifted to William Harvey hospital."

The road was reopened at 12.15pm.
