Romney Marsh lifeboats help search for swimmers off Dungeness

An air and sea search was launched today to find three swimmers.

The Dungeness and Littlestone lifeboats were sent out when the trio was reported missing off Dungeness at about 4pm today.

A HM Coastguard helicopter was also needed but the three were found safe and well.

But a spokesman for Dungeness RNLI said: "They were found on the beach at Dungeness at 5pm so the search was called off."

The swimmers were believed to be teenage girls or young women.
