Wesley Shrubsole's angling column: St Mary’s Bay angler Dave Wood-Brignall has made the most of being stranded in Norway

They say every dark cloud has a silver lining and that’s been the case for St Mary’s Bay angler Dave Wood-Brignall.

Dave, who is an angling guide in Norway, had been stuck there since March but if you are an angler what a place to be stuck!

The sea angling there has to be seen to be believed.

The size and species available to the shore angler is mind blowing.

Dave, who with luck will be back in Blighty next week, shows the quality of the fishing with these stunning plaice and haddock caught just outside his lodge!

Well Dave, you may have had to rough it mate, but I bet you had some stunning fish suppers!

Rivers and some still waters will have opened from Tuesday so be sure to have purchased your new rod and line licence before you set off.
