Sandwich Bowling Club members Gordon Charlton and Colin Goldsmith won the British Isles Pairs Championship at Llandrindod Wells in Wales at the weekend.

Charlton and Goldsmith, who won the English pairs title last year, defeated Welsh champions Dave Weale and Robert Weale, from Presteigne, 20-16 in Saturday's final after trailing for most of the match.

In the semi-finals they had cruised past Jersey's Alan Cadoret and Didier Le Falher 25-12.

In addition, Charlton played twice for England over the weekend in the Home Internationals, which were also held at Llanrindod Wells, and helped them to finish in third place behind Scotland and Wales.
