Twenty-one community groups, schools and businesses are taking part in the competition.

The display includes creations by Locks of Sandwich, The Co Op, Nostalgic Sandwich, Sunflower Centre at Age Concern, Flags Home Education Group, Wendy Watson Reflexology, Sandwich in Bloom, Honfleur Twinning Society and Sandwich Shop.

People can vote for their favourite up until Saturday, December 21 with the winner announced the following Monday.

The winning tree will receive a hamper donated by The Co-op in Sandwich.

Annemarie Huigen said: "As a volunteer at St Peter's I am really pleased that local businesses and societies have taken the time to decorate the trees.

"A small £5 donation has been collected per tree which will help with the ongoing fundraising at St Peter's.

"The trees will be up till the Thursday, January 2."

The church's exterior has also been given a festive makeover with three lights tunnels thanks to David Bachelor, John Vanderdol and Sandwich Lights committee.

The church is open daily from 10am until 4pm.
