Cyclist airlifted to hospital after accident in Dover Road in Sandwich

A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital after an accident close to a secondary school.

Emergency services were called at 8.50am to a report a person had come off their bike in Dover Road in Sandwich.

Two land ambulance crews attended the scene near to Sandwich Technology School where a male patient was suffering with leg and head injuries.

They were joined by an air ambulance crew who according to an eye witness landed by the Delf Farm Shop nearby.

A spokesman for SECamb said: "The patient was treated at the scene before being airlifted to William Harvey Hospital."

Emergency vehicles responding to the incident blocked the entrance and exit point of the road causing some delays.
