Partnership the way forward, says head

THE key to future success at a Kent school will be the continuing strong partnership between students, parents, staff and governors.

That was the message from head teacher Chris Morgan at the annual speech day and prize-giving at Sir Roger Manwood's School, Sandwich.

He said there were exciting opportunities and challenges ahead with Manwood’s as it has already been designated a high performing specialist school by the Department for Children, Families and Schools.

It had now been invited to bid for a second specialism to add to its language college status and had chosen to go for maths and computing.

Mr Morgan welcomed Professor Alex Hughes, Pro Vice-Chancellor: External and Professor of French at the University of Kent, who presented the prizes.

The head teacher said that links between Manwood’s and the university were strong with students at the Sandwich school benefiting from visits to the university and lecturers also coming into school.

In his report on the academic year, Mr Morgan said Manwood’s had a successful OFSTED inspection last year and this summer’s examination results set new records.
