DETECTIVES are hunting a robber who threatened a young bus driver with a knife and escaped with £58 in fare money.

The 20-year-old victim was grabbed from behind as the 941 bus pulled up outside the Guildhall in Sandwich. The robber was a bearded young white man, of medium build wearing a Burberry baseball cap.

Although no one else was on the bus at the time of the attack, two other passengers, who got off at St Barts Road, may have seen the suspect when he joined the bus at the Red Lion pub in Ash.

Police are also appealing for witnesses to the late night attack who may have seen the robber fall out of the bus at the Guildhall stop.

Anyone with information should contact the police on 01304 240055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
