The race is on for golf fans to get their tickets for next year's Open Championship being held in Kent.

Tickets for the event at Royal St George's in Sandwich are available from today.

The Claret Jug is due to return to Sandwich for the 15th time between July 16 and 19 2020 - the first since Darren Clarke’s maiden major triumph in 2011.

Members of The One Club now have access to priority tickets to see the world's best compete for the title of Champion Golfer.

Final qualifying for The Open takes place on Tuesday, with Sandwich's Prince's golf club one of the four host venues.

Among those competing for a place is Prince's Francis McGuirk after his joint-seventh-placed finish in last Monday's regional qualifier at West Lancashire.

Chislehurst's Liam Burns will also be involved after coming through the regionals, as will Chestfield's Warren Bennett and the Rochester & Cobham duo of Jack Colegate and Zak Morgan.

Canterbury's Richard Wallis is another set to compete for one of the 12 available spots after progressing to final qualifying with a second-placed finish in the Titleist/Footjoy PGA Professional Championship at Hunstanton, Norfolk.

It has been 50 years since an Englishman won The Open in his home nation, the last being Tony Jacklin at Royal Lytham & St Anne's Golf Club in 1969.

Such is the demand for Open tickets that over 20% were sold in 48 hours of release for this year's event at Royal Portrush, where 215,000 spectators are expected.

The One Club can be joined for free on The Open website.
