Man arrested over bogus police case in Westerham

A suspected burglar has been charged in connection with a break-in near Westerham involving bogus police officers.

At around 11.30pm on Tuesday, July 9, a vehicle with blue flashing lights on its roof approached a gated entrance to flats in Emmetts Lane, Ide Hill.

Two men dressed as police officers and a third person, who was driving the car, were allowed access to the grounds.

It is alleged the suspects then burgled a property, stealing cash and items including designer handbags. They also attempted to force their way into another address.

Real police officers attended and found a knife that had been left at the scene.

Daniel Bowen, aged 43, was arrested at his home in Wolfe Crescent, Charlton, at 6am on yesterday. He has been charged with aggravated burglary and attempted burglary with intent to steal. He is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
