Plume of black smoke from farm blaze at Carters Hill in Sevenoaks

A fire in an agricultural building sparked a massive emergency response.

Crews were called to the blaze in Carter’s Hill, Sevenoaks, at 10.47 am today.

People living close to the fire were being urged to close their windows and doors as a large pall of black smoke could be seen drifting from the blaze.

At the height of the incident, six fire engines and a bulk water carrier used main jets to extinguish the flames.

Crews left the scene at 2.39pm this afternoon.

There are no reports of injuries and the cause is currently unknown.
