Derelict building at former Broke Hill Golf Club in Halstead near Sevenoaks hit by fire

Fire crews were called to tackle a blaze at a derelict building on a golf course this morning.

Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier were dispatched to the fire at the former Broke Hill Golf Club, in Sevenoaks Road, Halstead, at around 6.15am.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used main jets to tackle the blaze.

No casualties were reported, and the exact cause has not yet been confirmed.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 6.40am on regarding a fire in a building at a golf club on Sevenoaks Road, Halstead.

"Officers attended the scene where Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews extinguished the fire. Enquiries are ongoing into circumstances."

Developers had previously looking at the possibility of building 800 new homes on the site of the now-closed golf course.
