Sevenoaks District Council provides Dementia awareness event in Otford Methodist Church Hall

People wishing to find out about the effects of Dementia can attend a free event in Sevenoaks next week.

Residents are invited to Otford Methodist Church Hall on between 10am and 1pm on Sunday to receive information, support and advice.

The event has been organised by Sevenoaks District Council and Kent County Council with help from a number of other agencies.

A variety of guest speakers from Otford Medical Practice, the Alzheimer’s Society and Brachers Law will give presentations highlighting services available to people who have dementia.

Advice and assistance will also be offered to people affected by the illness.

Sevenoaks District Council's health portfolio holder, Cllr Michelle Lowe, said: "This will be a very valuable event for people looking to gain more advice on the effects of dementia and I would urge people to attend."

The afternoon has been organised as part of the council’s work with KCC, the Sevenoaks District Seniors Action Forum and local communities.

In August last year The Swanley Dementia Friendly Communities Forum was launched with the same being recently set up in Sevenoaks.

The aims of the forums are to make facilities a more accessible place to live and visit for people with Dementia.
