Sevenoaks Dunbrik recycling centre on fire and will be closed for several days

Six fire engines rushed to the Sevenoaks (Dunbrik) tip off Main Road, Sundridge, at 4.37am.

Police have closed the A25 up to the junction with the M25 as they assist the fire crews.

A single-storey commercial outbuilding is alight at the site.

Three fire engines remain on scene and firefighters are using main jets and water from hydrant to dampen down any hot spots.

People who live or work nearby were being urged to close their windows and doors as a precaution due to smoke but that measure was lifted just before 9pm.

No casualties have been reported and the cause is not yet known.

Kent County Council has warned its recycling centre will be closed for several days.

People who have bookings to visit the site will be contacted for an alternative to be arranged.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are currently at the scene to assist with a road closure while the fire is dealt with."

Firefighters are still at the scene.
