Huge queues on M25 near Sevenoaks after accident involving lorry, vans and cars

Drivers are still experiencing severe delays on the M25 after a multi-vehicle crash this morning.

The accident involving a lorry, two vans and two cars happened just before 6am near Junction 5 for the M26, near Sevenoaks, and caused long queues.

Traffic was at a standstill and three of four lanes on the other side were closed due to a separate accident involving an overturned car.

Earlier, some drivers were delayed by up to an hour-and-a-half.

Emergency services including police, fire and paramedics were all called.

The A25 was congested with drivers attempting to avoid the M25.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 5.43am on Monday to a report of a collision involving two vehicles between junction five and six on the London-bound carriageway of the M25.

"Officers are at the scene along with other emergency services and lane closures are in place.

"Injuries, not believed to be life threatening, have been reported. Motorists are advised to avoid the area due to heavy traffic."

Commenting on the other crash, the spokesman said police were called at 6.02am to reports of a collision involving two vehicles on the anti-clockwise carriageway near Junction 5 and 6 and "no injuries are believed to have been reported".
