Queues of more than two miles have formed as emergency crews deal with the aftermath of a five-car crash on the outskirts of Kent.
One lane of the M25 remains shut between Junction 5 for Sevenoaks and the Clacket Lane Services.
The accident happened on the anti-clockwise carriageway.
Three of the motorway's lanes remain open, but the area has remained heavily congested since the accident at about 6.45pm.
National Highways tweeted at 8.20pm: "Lanes 2, 3 and 4 are now open.
"Lane 1 remains closed for recovery. There is approx. 2.5 miles of congestion on approach.
"Please allow extra time for your journey if you are travelling in the area."
