A new retirement community for the over-60s has officially opened on the site of a former flour mill.
The Corn Mill Place development in Mill Road, Dunton Green, near Sevenoaks, offers 37 retirement homes in a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments for sale and rent.
The developer, McCarthy Stone, invited local senior citizens to look around the complex where half of the apartments are already reserved.
The guests were treated to refreshments, including a celebration cake, and were serenaded with live music by singing duo Scarlet Swing.
Sales director Rebecca Johnson said: “The team were so excited to celebrate Corn Mill Place’s official opening, with both Dunton Green’s newest residents as well as local retirees and their families.
“As the first homeowners get ready to move into their new homes, this event was a great way to kickstart their retirement at Corn Mill Place.”
The development offers independent living with a house manager on site during office hours and a 24/7 emergency call service.
There is a shared lounge and gardens, and a guest suite for relatives to stay over.
The development is on the site of Longford Mill, a flour mill powered by a water wheel fed from the River Darent, which was still in commercial use until 1947.
It was demolished in 1987.
