Stag Community Arts Centre in Sevenoaks will be holding a special showing of the Battle of Britain film

A community arts centre in Sevenoaks will be commemorating the Battle of Britain with a special film screening this summer.

On Sunday, July 12, The Stag will show the 1969 film based on the events of the Battle in the early days of the Second World War.

The film, directed by Guy Hamilton focuses on a seminal moment in the War, where British Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding (Laurence Olivier) must rally his outnumbered pilots against Hitler's feared Luftwaffe.

Besieged by German bombing runs, the Brits counter with an aggressive air campaign of their own.

Within months, the Nazis find themselves on the run, thanks to Dowding's tactical genius and the work of talented squadron leaders (Michael Caine, Christopher Plummer) and other brave patriots.

The one off screening will be held at the on July 12 at 3pm.
