The M25 and the M26 had to be closed due to a crash thought to have involved a van and a car.

The accident happened between Junction 5 for Sevenoaks and the Clacket Lane Services at about 8am.

The M25 was shut from Junction 4 and the London-bound M26 was also closed as traffic was diverted away from where the accident happened. They were reopened at about 9.40am.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8.02am to reports of a collision involving a car and a van on the clockwise carriageway of the M25, between junctions 5 and 6."

"One person has been taken to a local hospital for treatment."
