On Sunday night the decorations were torn down.

Linda Larter, town clerk and chief executive of Sevenoaks Town Council, said: "In the grand scheme of things its only cost £10 to £15 but it is the principle.

"Last week we had school children making Christmas decorations and now they've been damaged.

"It's not about the money, we had about 150 people visit when the decorations went up. This is the first time the station has had its own tree.

"We have CCTV footage of the incident. We'll be following it up with the police so they can talk to the young people involved."
