Air ambulance lands after crash between car and van in Lower Road, Minster

Delays of up to 50 minutes were reported after the air ambulance landed at the scene of a crash involving three vehicles on the Isle of Sheppey.

Police and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called to Lower Road, Minster just after 4pm to assess for injuries.

The road was blocked in both directions due to the crash.

Witnesses said traffic was building on to the Island with queues backed up on the Kingsferry Bridge.

Highways officials said traffic was queueing from A249 (Leysdown turn off) to Barton Hill Drive.

Congestion also built on surrounding roads around Queensborough, Rushenden, Minster, and traffic was backed up on Sheppey Crossing to the Lower Halstow turn off.

A man was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.
