Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey, Marine Parade, Sheerness, opens its doors for Christmas fair

More than 100 people attended a Christmas fair at the Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey on Saturday.

There were games, a raffle and a tombola, Santa’s grotto plus stalls run by Year 8 students selling various items such as homemade cakes, toys and jewellery made from old computer parts.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Swale, Cllr George and Brenda Bobbin, carried out their official duties of opening the fete before getting into the spirit of things by having their faces painted and dancing to music.

School spokesman Marion Jones said: “They were really good fun and stayed a long time.”

Year 13 students organised the day as part of their business and enterprise course.

A total of £330 was raised with all proceeds going to the Island’s Crisis at Christmas campaign.

The appeal, which has been going for more than 20 years, dispatches food parcels to homes across Sheppey so they can celebrate the festive season in their own homes.
