The group tried to help rescue the 50ft-long sperm whale which found itself in Kent waters this week.

It is reported the thieves took a sat nav which the organisation used to find locations to help animals.

The owners said four torches, restraining and sea rescue equipment and a dry suit were also taken.

Posting on Facebook, Twiggy Hawes said the group were "gutted".

Residents have been offering to donate replacement equipment and money.
