Biker and passenger in hospital with serious injuries after crash with car in Leysdown Road, Sheppey

A motorcyclist and his passenger remain in hospital with serious injuries following a crash with a car.

Police were called when a black Honda CB 1300 was involved in a collision with a grey Vauxhall Corsa in Leysdown Road, between Eastchurch and Leysdown on Sheppey.

The motorbike is believed to have been travelling towards Leysdown, with the Vauxhall Corsa going in the opposite direction.

The crash happened shortly after 12.30pm yesterday and the rider and pillion passenger of the motorbike, were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries.

The rider, a 58-year-old man, is believed to have life threatening injuries, while the 51-year-old woman, who was the passenger, is believed to have sustained serious injuries. Both remain in hospital.

Police closed the road as emergency services attended the scene, including an air ambulance, and it re-opened at 7pm.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

In particular, they would like to hear from anyone who witnessed either vehicle leading up to the collision or who has dash camera footage of the moments before the crash.
