A body has been found in the search for a missing 51-year-old woman.

Karen Gill was last seen in the High Street area of Queenborough at about 4.30am yesterday.

Officers searching for her have sadly confirmed the discovery of a body near the town.

A police spokesman said: “We were called shortly after 10pm yesterday to a report that a body had been found near Queenborough Harbour on the Isle of Sheppey.

“Officers, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and HM Coastguard attended the scene, where a woman was confirmed deceased.

“Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of a 51-year-old woman who was reported missing in the area have been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
