CCTV images show one of the last-known sightings of an 85-year-old who went missing on Christmas Eve.
The footage taken from a property in Marine Parade, Sheerness, shows Patrick Williams walking from St Henry and St Elizabeth Catholic Church where he was a parishioner.
The pensioner, whose home is in nearby Coronation Road, arrived at the place of worship around 10.25pm for Christmas Eve mass just as the doors were being locked.
Father Aklilu Assefa Gizaw told KentOnline Patrick had asked what time evening mass was to which one of the staff replied it had finished but there would be Christmas day mass at 11.15am.
He said: “I know Patrick from his regular attendance at 11.15am mass.
“When we saw him at the entrance to the church we only had a quick conversation but he didn’t seem confused.
“We prayed for him at our Sunday mass and we hope he is found soon.”
After leaving the church, Patrick was next seen at 10.43pm in the video heading along Marine Parade.
Police confirmed yesterday (December 29) they had seen further CCTV footage of him outside Sheppey Sailing Club heading towards Minster around 11pm.
Officers were first made aware of his disappearance at 9.55am on Christmas Day.
Since then, police, Kent Search and Rescue, HM Coastguard and the RNLI have been looking for him.
Islanders have also banded together to search for Patrick, with a social media page called ‘Missing: HAVE YOU SEEN PATRICK?’ amassing more than 2,700 members.
Mum-of-four Carley Ellis started the group so information could be found in one place and searches co-ordinated.
One such effort on Saturday saw around 70 people looking along Sheerness Beach for Patrick or clues to his disappearance.
This included somebody paragliding over the sea.
Sheerness resident Carley told KentOnline: “The main reason I wanted to help is because I have an elderly grandad who has dementia.
“I would want people to help me find him if he was to go missing.”
The 31-year-old added: “Since we set up the group, the six administrators, including myself, have together received around 400 messages a day asking if there are any updates or information.
“It shows how much of a community the Island is and how much we care for one another.”
Fellow admin Daryl Senior Richardson has been out on foot searching for signs of Patrick.
The 36-year-old, who also lives in the town, had been looking on social media on Christmas morning when he first read of the situation.
He said: “We are trying to search all avenues to find Patrick and bring him home for his family.
“I lost my grandad recently so that tallies with why I am trying to help.
“Everyone who has been involved has just been outstanding.”
Patrick is 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build and with white/grey hair. He has a beard and also wears glasses.
He sometimes gets confused and concerns are growing for his welfare.
