Residents have been warned after a disposable barbecue in a bin caught alight and quickly spread to a nearby home.
Five fire engines were called to Leicester Gardens in Warden on Sheppey.
A height vehicle also attended and crews used main jets, hose reel jets and fog spikes to extinguish the flames.
It have happened on Saturday (June 21) at around 9pm.
The blaze is believed to have started from a disposable barbecue being put into a wheelie bin while still hot.
A spokesperson from the fire service added: “It's thought the barbecue then ignited the contents of the bin and spread to nearby fences, which then caught fire to the property's roof.
“If you're having a barbecue this summer, ensure you keep it on a steady, non-flammable surface and keep it well away from property, trees, fences and garden furniture.
“Disposable barbecues retain heat for a long time and so they can also cause a fire long after being thrown away, so you should always triple check it has fully cooled before binning it.”
The fire was extinguished just after 10.40pm.
No injuries were reported.
