A dog was found collapsed and in dire need of medical treatment.

The lost pet, of unknown breed, was discovered in Halfway Road in Halfway, Sheppey, with a bad skin condition on Saturday.

The dog, which didn't have a microchip, was lying on the side of the road by a member of the public who called the RSPCA. He was later handed over to a Swale council dog warden because he was a stray.

The poorly pooch is now receiving treatment for his skin condition and other ailments.

A council spokesman said: "We took him in on Saturday and the vet has given him treatment for mange, conjunctivitis, overgrown nails and a heavy ear infection.

"He’s now in a foster home and is responding well to treatment and expected to make a full recovery."

He added: "At present, we can’t be sure of his breed, and our best guess of his age from the condition of his teeth is around three years old.

"As he isn’t chipped, we don’t know where he has been, so would like anyone who might recognise him to please get in touch so we can investigate."
