Minster man charged after van and car crash outside The Ship on Shore pub and car park in Marine Parade, Sheerness

A man has been charged with drink driving following a smash between a van and a car outside a pub.

The crash happened on Sunday (April 21) at around 11.30pm in Marine Parade, outside The Ship on Shore pub and The Ship on Shore car park, in Sheerness.

Kamaleswaran Kunabalasingam, who lives in Southsea Avenue, Minster, was arrested and charged with drink driving.

The 42-year-old was bailed and is set to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 21.

Paramedics and firefighters were also in attendance. There were no injuries reported, and arrangements were made to recover both vehicles.

Dramatic pictures from the scene show the aftermath of the crash, with one showing a red Honda with a badly damaged passenger side.

Another picture, seen by KentOnline, shows emergency services in the road, which is believed to have been shut by the police.

One resident who did not want to be named told KentOnline she heard a “loud bang” around 11.30pm.

She said: “There have been so many crashes along here that you get to know the sound.”
