Father James McGinley and teenage daughter Jamilee Mizzi accused of burgling Leysdown home

A teenage girl accused of burgling a home with her father has appeared in court today.

Jamilee Mizzi, 17, denied breaking into the house in Leysdown Road, Bayview, near Leysdown, on July 28 and stealing a watch, money, clothing, a wedding ring, an engagement ring, an eternity ring, a laptop, a wallet and other jewellery.

She also denied conspiracy to commit fraud by using a stolen bank card and obtaining £458.

She further denied aggravated vehicle taking involving a Peugeot which was involved in an accident on the same date and left damaged.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of her father, James McGinley, 42, after he failed to answer his bail.

He is accused of the same offences, as well as burgling a home in Rectory Lane, Brasted, in May, stealing £400, $200 and jewellery.

He is also accused of damaging a fence belonging to Henry Cooper at another house in Leysdown Road and making a threat to kill a police officer on the same date as the Bayview burglary.

McGinley, of Braganza Street, Kennington, south London, had been granted bail conditional on residence. He was also subject to a tagged curfew.

Judge Philip Statman, at Maidstone Crown Court, said: “These are serious crimes. There needs to be urgent enquiries. He knew well fine he was to be here.”

Mizzi, who is also on bail and of the same address, was said to be starting a business studies course the first week in September. She was allowed to sit in the well of the court with her grandmother.

A trial date was set for the week beginning January 1 next year.
