A PASSENGER had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car he was travelling in after a two-vehicle crash.

The collision, involving a 7.5 tonnes Iveco van and a Peugeot 307, happened at Queenborough Corner on Sheppey.

Sheerness firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to release the injured passenger from the car.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, is thought to have suffered a spinal injury and was transferred onto a longboard before being taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman said no one else suffered serious injuries.
