Prisoner Cameron Ferguson denies attempted murder at HMP Swaleside

A 24-year-old prisoner has denied attempting to murder another inmate at a Sheppey prison.

Cameron Ferguson, from Southall, west London, is alleged to have stabbed Fahim Khan 21 times at HMP Swaleside in Eastchurch on April 14 last year.

He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and an alternative charge of wounding with intent when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today by TV link with high security Belmarsh Prison in Thamesmead, south east London.

Judge Philip Statman was told several witnesses, including the Swaleside governor, would be called at the trial, set for June 5.

There will be a further hearing on May 10.
