Sheppey: Man injured at HMP Swaleside

A man has been flown to hospital following an incident at a Sheppey prison.

An air ambulance was scrambled and landed on a nearby football pitch in Eastchurch.

Police confirmed they were called to an "incident" at the prison in Brabazon Road, at 5.44pm.

A spokesman said: "Officers are in attendance along with Secamb and one man is being treated for injuries."

A Prison Service spokesperson said: “Staff at HMP Swaleside successfully resolved an incident on Tuesday in which a prisoner received a minor head injury.

"An air ambulance was called as a precaution but was not needed. No other prisoners were involved.”
