A 19-year-old unemployed man is to appear before a crown court judge later this month accused of rape.

Gary Ryder is also charged with causing grievous bodily harm and trespassing following an alleged incident at a house in Sheerness.

Police say a woman was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham for treatment following an alleged incident.

Ryder, of Botany Close, Sheerness, appeared at Maidstone Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody. He will now appear at Maidstone Crown Court on August 18 for a preliminary hearing.
