Minster have the Shepherd Neame Kent League Division 3 summit in their sights but captain James White knows this Saturday’s opponents can’t be underestimated.

Lowly OD CUACO visit Gilbert Hall but they’ll be in confident mood after beating leaders Upchurch by six wickets.

That defeat for Upchurch, coupled with another win for Minster, puts the Islanders right in the hunt for the title.

"The league table hasn’t proved anything this season," said White (pictured).

"They (OD CUACO) turned Upchurch over and they’ve also beaten us. We’re not going to be expecting an easy win buti if we get the basics right I’m confident.

"Upchurch have slipped up and we’re only eight points adrift of them now. It happened to them last year where they were leading and then had a downfall. Everyone will get that in the league at some point and hopefully we’ve already had ours.

"All we’re doing though is focusing on a game by game basis. We’ve got OD CUACO at the weekend and they’ll be on a high after beating Upchurch but our guys are really enjoying themselves and being in second place has really given the club a boost."

Minster’s title hopes were helped on Saturday with a six-wicket victory over Linden Park.

Park were put into bat and they set a total of 135 but, thanks to a match-winning knock of 91 not out from Kevin Barker, Minster claimed the win with 137-4 on the board.

Nathan Nichol helped himself to another four wickets, taking his league tally to 51, but White revealed the pair were struggling with illness.

He said: "Kevin Barker really stole the show and Nathan Nichol also bowled well, despite the pair both playing with flu and at just 50 per cent they still put in great performances."

Minster’s game against OD CUACO starts at 1.15pm on Saturday.
