At one stage, police concerned for his welfare urged residents to search their garden sheds and garages for him.

They had also trawled through CCTV footage looking for clues to his whereabouts.

Erdmanis, who goes by the name of Arty, has a home in Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey and also has ties with Sittingbourne.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police confirmed this evening: "He has been found safe and well. Officers are no longer appealing to the public for assistance."

No details of where he was found have been released.
