An annual Sheppey fundraiser has raised hundreds of pounds.

The St John Ambulance Round the Island Walk took place on Sunday and 15 people joined in.

A lone walker opted for the eight-mile route, while six did the 16-mile challenge and eight did the full 32-miles.

It started at Layzells in Minster at 8am and the last participant crossed the line just before 5pm.

It is hoped it will have raised around £900 for the charity, which will help train people and equip volunteers to be first-aiders at community events.

Divisional superintendent for Sheppey, Philip Le Masonry, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the event by either taking part or giving up their time to make the day run smoothly.

“The sponsorship money from the walk will help our volunteers carry on being the difference between lives lost and lives saved in local communities on Sheppey and beyond and teaching others to do the same.”
