Police dog finds suspect following car crash in Minster, Sheppey

A police dog helped tracked down a suspected criminal who ran away from a car crash.

Wilma and her handler were called to the Isle of Sheppey in the early hours of this morning after a car overturned and a man ran off.

Kent Police Tactical Operations tweeted: "PD Wilma and handler called to assist Kent Police Swale following a decamp from an RTC (road traffic collision).

"Male located near to the scene with help from local officers and arrested for a number of offences."

A police spokesman said officers were called The Broadway, Minster, at 2.30am to a report that a car had overturned.

He said: "Officers attended and conducted a search for the occupant who was reported to have left the scene on foot."

A 33-year-old man from Orpington was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving and was held in custody while enquiries continued.
