Sheppey: Police hunt van after car ends up on roof in The Broadway, Minster

Police have released more details about a crash, involving two vehicles, which resulted in one driver being taken to hospital while the other drove off.

The accident in The Broadway, at the junction with Wards Hill Road, Minster, happened at about 7.15pm on Monday.

The driver of a yellow Suzuki Wagon R, which ended up on its roof, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

The 73-year-old man suffered a serious injury to his right arm.

The occupants of a small, white Citroen van reportedly fled and police are now trying to find them.

A spokesman for the force said: “The second vehicle involved is reported to have failed to stop at the scene and inquiries to locate it are ongoing.”

The van was last seen heading in the direction of Scrapsgate and is reported to have a registration plate containing the number 62.

Officers were joined by crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

A road closure was in place until about 9.10pm.
