Sheerness Golf Club continued their 100th anniversary celebrations with their Centenary President’s Day on Saturday.

The competition was sponsored by HSBC Bank, who offered a new Volkswagen Golf car for anyone scoring a hole-in-one at the 17th hole.

Secretary David Nehra said: "None of the competitors were able to win the car, but there was still some very good golf played.

"We are grateful to HSBC for their sponsorship, which included a cheque for £200 towards the cost of producing our course guides."

The winners of the four-man stableford team event, with the best three scores counting, were Dan Pullen, Ben Pullen, Jake Jackson and Bradley Honour with 125 points.

Runners-up were Nathan Hutchinson, Terry Barnard, Guy Lockyer and Bradley Parker on 118, and third Warren Cavilla, Mark Brown, Matt Dale and Ben Chubb with 116.

The 100th anniversary celebrations continue this Saturday with the Centenary Captain’s Day.

n FREE golf coaching taster sessions will be available at Sheerness Golf Club from next month.

Junior sessions run on August 3, 7, 13 and 17 between 10am and 12pm and the seniors are held on August 15 and 22 between the same times.

The sessions are open to beginners/non members and provide an ideal opportunity to experience the game of golf.
