Delays cleared after crash on A249 Sheppey Crossing

Drivers faced rush-hour delays after a car crash on a bridge yesterday.

It happened on the A249 Sheppey Crossing southbound just before 4.30pm and impacted traffic coming off the Island.

The road was shut for traffic heading to the mainland but remained open to Sheppey-bound motorists.

There was congestion along Lower Road in Minster and reports of queues as far as Brambledown.

As of 9.05pm, the route was said to have been reopened.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 3.56pm on Wednesday 29 October 2025 to reports of a single vehicle collision on the A249 Sheppey Crossing southbound.

“Officers attended and assisted recovery of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.”
