St Edward's Catholic Primary School in Sheerness sends sincere condolences to family after parent's death

A school has sent its sincere condolences to the family of a parent who collapsed on the site and died.

At least four police cars, three ambulances and one fire engine were sent to what was described as a medical emergency at St Edward's Catholic Primary School in New Road, Sheerness, shortly after 1.30pm on Friday.

Police closed New Road, at the junction with Broad Street, as a result.

Speaking this afternoon, head teacher Sara Wakefield said it had involved a parent.

She said: “It is with great sadness that I can confirm that a parent collapsed at the school on Friday and later died.

"Staff and governors would like to offer their sincere condolences to the family.

"We will support the family, and any pupils affected by this tragedy, in any way we can."

An ambulance spokesman said: "Despite the best efforts of all those involved the person sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts are with those affected."
