Two suspects arrested in Dartford after alleged attempted lorry robbery in Queenborough, Sheppey

Two men have been charged after a lorry driver was allegedly threatened in an attempt to take his vehicle.

Last Friday (September 5), the man parked his articulated HGV in Cullet Drive in Queenborough and got out of the cab.

Two men, said to be acting suspiciously, approached him, so he quickly threw a bag containing his keys over a high fence.

The driver was reportedly threatened before the duo left the scene in a vehicle.

Police were called, and within an hour a car was stopped in Princes Road, Dartford, and two men were arrested.

Simeon McFarlane, of Old Oak Lane, Harlesden, London, and Darrell Bethune, of Lawn Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, were later charged with attempted robbery and possession of cannabis.

On Monday (September 8), the pair, both aged 37, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court.

They were remanded to a hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on October 6.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police and motorists with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
