Teenager arrested after police chase through Sheerness ends in Minster

A teenager has been arrested after a dramatic police chase.

The pursuit started after officers attempted to stop an uninsured car in Richmond Street, Sheerness, at 3.30pm yesterday.

The car did not stop and was pursued to Minster Road, Minster, where it was abandoned by the driver who tried to run away.

Eye witnesses spotted the car being chased through a number of roads in Sheerness including Marine Parade, Unity Street and Vincent Gardens.

Driving instructor Darren Willett, of Willett's School of Motoring, captured the moment the fleeing car mounted a kerb in Cecil Avenue in a bid to get away from police.

An 18-year-old man, from Sheerness, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence or insurance, and possession of cannabis.

He remains in custody.
